J.--October 7, 1925--Since September 15 a large squad, including nine veterans from last year and a promising group from the 1928 eleven, has been working out under Coach Roper, who has sent the candidates through his usual early drill in the fundamentals. Of the men, 50 have been retained for the present on the University squad, while the rest have been sent to Coach Poe to make up his famous "Omelettes," or scrubs. Moeser, fullback of the 1928 combination and Jeffers, a Senior, are at present Roper's choices. ...Coach Roper at Princeton followed the Notre Dame example Saturday and started an entire team of second-string play- ers against Amherst. The Tigers' substitute backfield did not do as well as expected, and the score at the end of the first half stood 0 to 0. In the last two periods Princeton, with Slagle starring, scored three touchdowns against their plucky opponents. Forward passing, with Slagle doing most of the tossing, was the feature of the Orange and Black attack. Of nine passes thrown, seven were completed. The Princeton line was not quite as adamant as those of Harvard...

Fielding Yost, the Michigan mentor, has arrived in Princeton to help in the practice for a week. Together with Harvey Emery, former Princeton tackle, he will instruct the men daily in his Michigan tactics. After Yost's stay is up Coach Roper and Keene Fitzpatrick, the Tiger trainer, will go to Ann Arbor and supervise the work of the conference team...
