Pendergast credits his defense for his own success throughout his Crimson career as well as in this year's rough stretches. "The people in front of me have made a huge difference in my play in four years. The shots I've had to stop have been from far away and have been ones I've expected...

...only to struggles with big countries, big armies, big bank balances. Few, claims Kirkpatrick, even thought a place like Nicaragua was very "interesting." By chance she was speaking in the Roosevelt Room at the White House, her back to the huge oil portrait of Theodore Roosevelt, resplendent in his Rough Rider uniform atop Texas, his indomitable horse. T.R. said his charge at Kettle and San Juan hills in Cuba was "the great day of my life" and the dispatch with his revolver of a fleeing Spaniard was notable because the Spaniard doubled over "neatly as a jack-rabbit...

Defense Concerns. To a surprising degree, a large and otherwise diverse majority closed ranks behind three propositions: that there is rough overall global equivalence between the superpowers; that there is a regional imbalance in Europe favoring the Soviet Union; and that regionally and globally there are ominous trends in Soviet wherewithal and behavior. Brown and Co-Author Steven Gaines have managed to scuff up Paul McCartney's Goody Two-Shoes and suggest that there is a lot more turmoil and contradiction lurking beneath the careful cherubic surface...

Developed by the Committee on Undergraduate Residential Life (CURL). Princeton's residential college system went through many rough drafts before construction finally began last year on five underclass "complexes"--Butler. Madison, Mathey, Rockefeller, and Wilson--each of which provides an assortment of recreation or t.v. common rooms. The five colleges were formed around clusters of existing dorms which have a dining hall centrally located. The system will eventually house all freshmen and sophomores, but only the freshman class was initiated into the program last fall. Dean of Student Affairs Andy Brown said he thought the CURL plan had been implemented...
