Usage:

TIME accuses me of "leaning over backward so far," apropos of the royal wedding rumours, that I "reached almost from Buckingham Palace to Billingsgate." This apparently refers to my statement that I did not (as you quote it) "care a damn" if Prince Philip married Princess Elizabeth. This comment is unfair to Billingsgate and to me. In so far as Billingsgate fish-market porters use oaths at all, they use far richer ones than "damn." And I did not, in fact, write "damn" but "dam," thus indicating that I accepted a possibly outmoded (1877) but attractive derivation of the phrase...

Lord, U.S.A., retired, and onetime deputy chief of staff to General Eisenhower, the first 13 experts of the newly formed Inter-American Construction Corp. were already consulting with Peron's five-year planners. Their purpose: 1) to sell Argentina U.S. technical know-how for the plan's 69 hydroelectric projects, port, canal and irrigation works; 2) to sell for U.S. manufacturers $2 billion worth of turbines...

Canadair now has orders for 20 transports for Trans-Canada Air Lines and 24 military planes for the Royal Canadian Air Force. Hopkins is shooting for a $40,000,000-a-year international business. He hopes to add another $10,000,000 by reconverting and overhauling planes...
