...ever longed to stand 180 ft. tall above Tokyo and do the monster mash with a few of your closest buddies, now is the time. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee (Infogrames/Atari; $49.99) has just been released for the Nintendo GameCube, and perfectly preserves the rubber-suited spirit of its 1954 cinematic predecessor. The plot--alien invaders have unleashed the inhabitants of Monster Island upon major urban centers--is dispensed with in a handful of campy cut scenes, taking players straight into a series of titanic dustups between 11 old-school monsters, including no fewer than three versions of the giant...

The idea of touching animals with big teeth freaks me out, so I retreated to the relative calm of the indoor aquarium...
...Mohameds are trying to be good citizens and good neighbors. Mohamed is taking classes to improve her English. She has befriended an Irish-American girl nearby who calls her "Mom." Her husband Hussein works a 12-hour night shift at a local rubber factory. On his days off, he helps his fellow Somalis look for work. The townspeople are trying too. Mohamed recalls that last year a policeman asked her husband to call if he had any problems after Sept. 11, and a concerned teacher asked Hibat if she felt scared. Mohamed says she nods hello to her neighbors...
