Senior Bar throws all these rare birds together with the expectation that the will chirp in harmony. Perhaps on some nights they do, but I would guess that most often they don't. A Harvard education promises the chance to rub elbows with an incredibly diverse bunch of people; as first-years we think it's feasible to meet them all, become a part of their little worlds and offer them entrance to ours. They also require a minimum investment of $500,000 and a net worth of $1 million. It's a select crowd, for sure, and that bugs me. Diversification is a huge issue for all investors. If tax-free diversification for the rich is allowed to stand--and, frankly, even if it isn't--the time has come to ease restrictions on company-contributed shares...

...lived half-way up to one brilliant proposed title, "Fuck Oasis and Fuck You," I wouldn't be able to recommend it more highly. Instead, it just sucks in a genial bar-rock kind of way. I could single out some songs for being egregiously inferior, but why rub their in it? The Pretty Things deserve to be every bit as rich and famous as the Stones, but this is not evidence likely to sway anyone. Benjamin L. McKean
