...starting, however, and the men do not always watch the play closely enough. On the offense the line is capable of making good holes and getting opposing players out of the way; but it does not always work together, although the effectiveness of the men in helping the runner along in a measure counter-acts this fault. Although the backfield is somewhat slow in starting, it follows close behind its interference. The formations have not been highly developed as yet, but the work so far gives promise of the final development of a fast and compact interference...

Campbell is playing better than last year, and his responsibilities as captain have not interfered with his development. He is the first man to get down the field on kicks, but still has the fault of overrunning his man. In interfering for a runner and in breaking up plays his work is excellent. Bowditch has been behind the other players in his development, owing to his injury early in the season, but is now getting into form. Cutts is playing a hard and spirited game and has shown considerable improvement in his playing. He is still a little slow...

...lacked unity. There was no consistent defense in the line, chiefly because the men did not watch the ball. The tackling, however, was very accurate. The offensive playing was much stronger than the defensive, for although the linemen were weak in opening holes and did not pull the runner along effectively, there was very little fumbling and the interference formed quickly...

...practice yesterday afternoon. Except for a few well-executed end runs and line plays which resulted in their only touchdown, the first eleven were outplayed by the second and were defeated by the score of 10 to 5. The second term frequently broke through the line and threw the runner before he was fairly started. The tackling was poor, and the quick playing and good team work which were so encouraging at the last practice were almost entirely lacking, and the men seemed to depend wholly on individual effort. The second eleven's winning score was made on a drop...

...line-up, the great defeat of the first eleven's offensive play was lack of team work. The linemen were not aggressive enough, and did not charge together. They failed, also, to pull the runner along effectively, and were rather weak in opening up holes, especially on the left side of the line. The runners were slow in starting and did not hit the line with enough force. The interference, though at times good, was very erratic. On defensive play the most noticeable fault of the first team was the slowness of the ends in getting down the field under...
