...PRINCE RUPERT, British Columbia: An American flag has been burned and a court order has been distributed. But the Alaska-bound ferry Malaspina loaded with American tourists remains hemmed in by a tiny armada of Canadian fishing boats at Prince Rupert. The vigilantes are protesting Alaskan catches of the premier salmon as they swim toward Canada. Since quota negotiations between the neighbors collapsed last month, the Canadians say, their Alaskan counterparts have taken far more than their share of the prized fish, threatening to put the Canadian fishermen out of work. That has stirred up some memories. "Canadians have learned...

Hogan (Muriel's Wedding) stages a couple of marvelously giddy musical numbers, and Rupert Everett is terrific as the voice of sweet homosexual reason in the midst of this heterosexual hubbub. More important, the purchase would give News Corp the ability to control both sides of the sports equation as a team owner and a broadcaster. Murdoch?s Fox network and regional cable channels have played a key role in driving...

...changed. Married...with Children will air its farewell episode this week, after 11 seasons. The 700 Club still has a spot on the Family Channel, Robertson's cable network, but it has been overshadowed by secular fare, such as reruns of Columbo and Rescue 911. Most startling of all, Rupert Murdoch and Pat Robertson are talking about becoming partners. Negotiations are well along--only "technical matters" remain to be resolved, according to one source--for Murdoch to buy a stake in Robertson's International Family Entertainment, parent company of the Family Channel. Although the principals won't comment, Murdoch reportedly...
