...While unique, Jenkins' experience mirrored the bleak existence that North Koreans have lived through. Ordinary citizens are similarly terrorized and watched over by "leaders" directed by the ruling Workers' Party. Hunger and deprivation are the norm. Speaking in his barely intelligible rural Carolina drawl, Jenkins says North Korean society is "backwards." He seems, even now, like a man on the verge of collapse, his voice cracking as he recalls painful memories. He frequently breaks down in tears...
...SUSPENDED. CHEN JIULIN, 43, chief executive of China Aviation Oil (CAO); after the company revealed a loss of $550 million on trading in oil derivatives, the largest Asian trading scandal since Barings Bank collapsed in 1995; in Singapore. But he has leavened that position with vehement support for contraception...

For instance, the Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s Nov. 3 press release emphasized that marriage amendments failed in urban areas, even if they were eventually passed on the strength of rural votes. The Task Force dangerously implies that rural bumpkins could not be dissuaded from their prejudice, and gives them up for lost. Harvard students were wont to take this position after the election in every conceivable forum, such as when Former Harvard Professor Brian C.W. Palmer...
Liberals who want to insert more “Economic Self Interest” into rural America might point out that many Bush voters don’t know how bad their President is for their bottom line. But if they don’t know, it may be because they don’t care. I haven’t been able to find a breakdown of political knowledge by political priorities, but I’ll bet you that those people who think Bush loves poor people aren’t the ones who vote based...
