...galvanize and tin-plate iron and steel. With ordinary electroplating equipment, a thin film of nickel is first deposited on the metal, then a layer of zinc or tin much thinner than usual is added. Baking then fuses the two coats into an alloy whose exceptional resistance to rust and corrosion has already been demonstrated on wire screens, and on Sears, Roebuck's insecticide spray tanks. Even though small amounts of nickel are required, the net result is a goodly saving in scarce metals...
