...learns that her earring is the same as the one worn by Greit in her portrait. But the truth is loftier than a studio tryst between artist and model. In fact, Chevalier's version is sexier: an exquisitely controlled exercise that illustrates how temptation is restrained for the sake...

...that the album is afraid of the scatological (Schimmel describes an exchange between his wife and himself: "Maybe you suffer from premature ejaculation." "Does it look like I'm suffering? Those aren't tears on your belly."). It's that the album isn't potty-mouthed for its own sake (hello, South Park). It focuses on Schimmel's family life, and its central point is our common insecurities about sex and the absurdities they drive us to: peeking down the TV screen trying to see what porn videos don't show; explaining sex to the daughter. So despite his swagger...

...time film reaches its triumphant conclusion--a spontaneous, bare bones production of Blitzstein's musical, in which all of the cast risk their jobs with the Federal Theater for the sake of a single performance--Robbins' purpose in embracing the subject is both abundantly clear and difficult to refute. The movie suggests that the artistic quality of Blitzstein's work (which, from the bits represented here, seems questionable) matters less than the fact that it was performed. Va., are no exception. In fact, reasons abound for both countries not to seek peace with one another. Confrontation with Israel has been the linchpin of Hafez el-Assad's authoritarian regime. Ending the state of war with Israel will deprive Assad of the very prop that legitimates his non-democratic rule. For Israel, peace with Syria means relinquishing the Golan Heights, a strategically vital buffer zone that saved...
