Easy enough to pick a quarrel with a show like Heroes of Rock 'n' Roll: Where are Sam Cooke and the Drifters? Why not Van Morrison, Jackson Browne and Creedence Clearwater Revival? Jesse Helms, Orrin Hatch and Sam Hayakawa were promptly dubbed the "Horrendous Three Hs" by distressed Democrats. Another Republican, Indiana's Richard Lugar, also asked for a place on the committee.
