Transit-shy Angelenos rely almost entirely on autos to move around their 464-sq.-mi. city, whose boundaries could encompass the combined areas of St. Louis, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Boston, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Manhattan.
