Other shorts in the program included Dog Days and Humpty Dumpty Land, both of which dealt with the terrors of present-day war, the former from the civilian point of view, the latter through the eyes of a half-sane soldier. Humpty Dumpty Land has moments of surprising grace, handling reds and greens with visual and symbolic skill, and creating an unnerving atmosphere largely around water: the movements of tides, the lazy formation of tiny pools, drip by drip and the glassy surfaces of puddles that dimly reflect a prone man’s bloodied head. Dog Days, an uncomfortably...
...weekly column, "Tell It Like It Is," for the Champion, a black paper in DeKalb. As far back as 1994, he wrote that the Confederate flag "represents an act of treason, the enslavement, rape, murder and torture of Africans and African Americans. It is beyond belief that any sane person would want to preserve such a hideous legacy." He had few friends among the area's white supremacists...

President James Garfield, elected in 1880, was assassinated by a not-too-sane man who would have preferred Chester Arthur as President...
BARK, BUT NO BITE INVENTOR: ROBERT FAIRALL Dogs are great theft deterrents; they also tend to smell bad and demand Richard Simmons levels of affection. When the sensor is tripped, a sound chip emits a low growl followed by a torrent of ferocious barking...
Overall the female cast delivers an excellent set of performances, stealing the spotlight from the male characters. Of these, the cop played by B.J. Averell '02 is hilarious, yet somewhat unfittingly so, since as the only sane and honest person he should inspire more respect and fewer laughs. The father-son crime team is entertaining and carries well the grunt of violence and profanity in the play. A highlight worth mentioning is the kitchen decor, which cleverly incorporates many of the items that pop up in the dialogue. Tom's obsession with soup is made concrete by a stack...
