...overwhelming defeat of Saturday was a great disappointment. The Faithful work of the eleven had led us to expect a victory and the beginning of a new era in Harvard athletics. During the first half and part of the second half our team played a wonderful game and victory seemed almost certain. The superior endurance of the Princeton team then began to count and during the last half hour the game was too one-sided to be interesting. The cause of the defeat was quite evident. The most despondent supporters of Harvard did not expect such a defeat, so complete at every point, and the huge score piled up by Princeton seems almost inexplicable.
