...Bartley: Years ago, Jackie O. and Caroline Kennedy came here on a busy Saturday night. The place was packed and noisy, but, right when those two walked in, total silence fell over the restaurant. I still remember what Jackie ordered: a Muenster cheeseburger and a glass of skim milk. That's way before your time, though. I remember a couple of years ago, Skip Gates called me and asked me to change his menu item from a chicken sandwich to a hamburger. I heard a lot of noise in the background, so I asked him, 'Skip, where are you calling...
Usually, when you witness a bit of sports history, euphoria sweeps through the building. But when short-track speedskater Apolo Ohno finished third in the 1,000 meter event on Saturday night, giving him seven career Olympic medals, the most-ever by an American Winter Olympian, you couldn't help feel a little bit like ... I never came into these Olympic games trying to break records. I do this sport because I love it. My goal here was to pour my heart and soul into these Olympic games. I have no regrets...
...George, a trendy Georgetown bar; a Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) happy hour to celebrate the launch of New Guard magazine at Murphy's Pub in Woodley Park; various receptions with conservative stars such as Ann Coulter and Monica Crowley; an XPAC comedy night; and the 6th annual Reaganpalooza Saturday at the Hawk and Dove bar on Capitol Hill. "This is like our Woodstock," said Jason Mattera, a spokesman for Young America's Foundation, in a speech at CPAC. "Except that our women are beautiful, we speak in complete sentences, and our notion of freedom doesn't consist of snorting...
