Some experts claim.that the California production has passed its peak, and statistics bear this out so far; the week ending Sept. 15 saw a decline in the daily average production of 5,750 barrels over the previous week. ...opening practice of the Freshman football squad saw 138 candidates for the team on the Freshman field yesterday. Of this number 28 were ends, 25 guards, 19 quarterbacks, 15 tackles, 11 centers and 40 backfield men. This exceeds by 21 last year's record breaking squad of 117. Today and tomorrow should add considerably to this number as a great many more men will probably report at today's practice...
