...Rideout's books have lately appeared in such quick succession that with each new one we are inclined to say. "This must be a pot-boiler," and then we take it up and to our surprise find again fresh, well-balanced work. "Admiral's Light" is no exception. It is a breath, all to short, of down-east air, tingling with the strong, salt flavor of sea-girt downs and long, pebbly beaches; a tantalizing glimpse of gray ocean and pine-clad islands. The story, as a mere story, amounts to little, but why should it? The book does...

...noticed certain signs of irreverent laughter when I alluded to the word 'smartness.' I have no message to deliver, but if I had a message to deliver to a university which I love, to the young men who have the future of their country to mold, I would say with all the force at my command: Do not be smart. ...notice in Saturday morning's CRIMSON, that a victory is ascribed to Johnson over Bryan in Friday's straw ballot. I wish to take issue with this misleading statement. As a matter of fact, Bryan received a big majority over Johnson from the Democratic voters. It is ludicrous, to say the least, to count Republican votes for Democratic nominees, unless a Democrat is given first or second place. To force a Republican to vote for two Democrats is something quite apart from actual politics; nor are Democrats supposed to vote for Republicans in an actual election. The mere fact that...

...some of our cities to be sure, but none the less a Harvard Club, aiming to foster the Harvard spirit and promote unity among the Boston alumni. Why Boston was among the last instead of the first to secure representation in the Associated Harvard Clubs it is hard to say; but now that the organization is fairly launched, it deserves the unstinted support of the loyal graduates of this vicinity...
