Professor Baker has chosen to produce this drama for a number of reasons. The American-Scandinavian Foundation is very anxious to have it staged in America and the Workshop will be the first to present on this continent a masterpiece which has been seen in Denmark, Norway, Germany and England. This more than any other of Sigurjonsson's writings has made him famous as one of the younger Icelandic and, indeed, Euopean dramatists.
