Another performance which pleased the Freshman coaches was the mile race between the first two 1924 and the University 150 pound crews, in which the first yearling eight showed the way to the University and second Freshman boats by a scant quarter length. The most exciting part of this race was between the last two boats, each taking the lead at different points during the mile, the Freshmen coming from behind toward the end and finishing even with the University boat; time for the winner 5 minutes, 36 seconds...
