...binomial theory can, for instance, tell you the odds of one man flipping a coin 8,000 times and getting 8,000 heads--about 1 in 10 2400[exponent]. It's a big number, but figure the odds on this: a young Hungarian boy either survives scarlet fever or he doesn't. He either goes to a concentration camp or he doesn't. He either escapes the Russians or he doesn't. Grove, who believes he is good, also suspects he's been amazingly lucky. And if you're trying to understand why his power hasn't bred arrogance...
...Moment and Once Upon a Dream is hardly likely to be a gloomy Gus. But Frank Wildhorn just may be Broadway's most happy fella. A virtual unknown on the Great White Way nine months ago, he is the composer of two musicals, Jekyll & Hyde and The Scarlet Pimpernel, which have survived mostly scathing reviews to become box-office successes. The ceiling lamps at Henri's are especially interesting--each seems to be a one-of-a-kind piece of art made with copper wire, scarlet colored glass and fiery tear -shaped bulbs. These lamps, a small collection of wine bottles and a few black and white prints contribute to the sparse yet effective decoration of the dining room. In fact, the relaxed, minimalist setting is a great contrast to the exotic, complex and flavorful dishes served...
...business-and-technology academy examines the history of the oil industry; fine-arts-academy students look at the Nazi plundering of paintings. Consistent with the trend known as "integrated curriculum," history and literature are taught in the same humanities course, allowing a smooth transition from Colonial politics to The Scarlet Letter...
