...throne and his wife, public acceptance of the monarchy is considerably weaker today than it was even five years ago. While the institution is not in mortal peril, discussion of a republic has become both vigorous and respectable rather than a left-wing fringe topic. The best possible scenario now is a three-act drama: long, long life to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who is exemplary; a brief reign for Charles, who might be as old as 70 or so when he ascends the throne; and then the reign of Wills, the crown's last, best hope...
...movie The Rock, the FBI director says that Sean Connery knows about "the alien landing at Roswell." Dark Skies posits that the government suppressed news of the Roswell aliens and that the space demons have taken over America by implanting infant aliens in people's brains--a scenario for people who think Oliver Stone's conspiracy theories are way too timid...

Like all the known Olmec sites, San Lorenzo is much less impressive than the Mayan cities that dot the Yucatan peninsula to the east. One reason: it supported only a few thousand people, rather than 100,000 or more. The major buildings and plazas were little more than earthen mounds covered with grass, lacking any sort of masonry facade and probably topped with pole-and-thatch houses...
