...promising debutantes: Composer Mary Rodgers, daughter of famed Tunesmith Richard Rodgers. Reminiscent at times, her pleasantly fashioned score is never merely derivative. Veteran Broadway Director George Abbott sets a pace that is nimble without being frantic. Occasionally, Mattress' comic reach exceeds its grasp and good taste e.g., a scene in which the mute king tries to mime the facts of life for his son. But when the evil queen finally brings the fabled pea to her lips in a dice player's frenzied kiss, it is an unconscious reminder of how much of the evening is a delightful...
Last week Little Rock, scene of an unfinished American morality play, produced a second act. Yale nearly had to default this one, too, as Freiberg, viewing the singles from atop the M.I.T. tennis shack, had difficulty getting down from his perch for the doubles. He finally made it, though, and the match went...
...scene was set for the Yale meet. In the first running event, the mile, Eli coach Bob Giegengack tried a daring gamble, taking ace 880 man Ed Slowik out of his normal event and pitting him against Benjamin and Jed Fitzgerald...
