...perpetrator? A mild-mannered sixth-grade girl. The weapon? Dave's Insanity Gourmet Hot Sauce. According to school officials, the offending student offered the sauce to her unsuspecting classmates during morning snack time. After the sauce worked its gastrointestinal magic, paramedics were called to the scene. Six pupils went home to convalesce and watch cartoons. One girl was treated by the school nurse. Eight others reported stomachaches but decided to tough it out and stay in school...

...Bride of Chucky, the latest movie starring the fatally adorable doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer, opened last weekend. The film was filled with gory and suspenseful moments, as every dark, quiet scene is violently and predictably disturbed by the axe-wielding doll's maniacal laughter and the horrified screams of his victims. But after prolonged exposure to this nonsense, Chucky's deathtraps became laughable and monotonous. Unfortunately, The Bride of Chucky is perfectly analogous with the new album release from Hovercraft, entitled Experiment Below. The record, relentlessly packed with strange noises and random samples, shows artistic...

...sudden outburst from apparent tranquility is incredibly frightening, particularly when listened to in a dark room in the wee hours of the morning. The initial effect of this outburst is powerful, as the overwhelming and deceivingly random sounds immediately pump the body with surging adrenaline, much like the opening scene of a horror flick. Eventually, the outburst fades into the initial lulling sounds, with some subtle variations. The listener is left wondering what will happen next, as "Anthropod" demonstrates the tremendously effective element of surprise in Hovercraft's music. The track continues with a few pseudo-build-ups, each dissipating...

...characters which added some much needed comic relief to the often heavy story line were Mrs. Watty (played by Elizabeth Newhall) and her daughter, Bessie (played by Jamie Smith). Newhall nearly stole the show in every scene in which she appeared--she was funny and feisty and always on target, as the tough, punchy Mrs. Watty, whose verve never failed to charm the audience...

...perfect day for everyone. Annie Glenn and her two grown-up children -- now in their fifties -- have been less than lukewarm about their husband and father returning to space from the first day NASA administrator Dan Goldin agreed to it. It's wasn't a happy scene for all the Glenn watchers, either -- drivers faced bumper-to-bumper traffic on the way to the Cape this morning, closed highways later on(the fact that the President drove in didn't help the situation any). And you could forgive space shuttle Discovery's army of technicians some jitters as they pumped...
