Even Whitacre’s paranoid fantasies are very much a product of his decade; at one point he compares his own situation to that of Tom Cruise in “The Firm,” which opened in 1993. In nearly every scene, the screen is bathed in brown and yellow tints, adding to the warm, nostalgic feel of the movie.Unfortunately, the comedy of Whitacre’s free association wears off over the course of the film.
