...vote with so much other important legislation pending? There now appeared one morning after a fashionable dinner at which he had been the lion, the Vice President of the U. S. A banker, Mr. Dawes has nevertheless allowed his blessing to rest on the McNary-Haugen scheme. A man of great resourcefulness, he whiffed the political air and he smelled a bill dear to "big business." That was the McFadden branch banking bill, with which is involved the fortunes of the Federal Reserve System. Mr. Dawes got the bank-bill men and the farm-bill...

...merry ditty on the hunt introduces us to the Hall of Fame, which is unfortunate in itself because the lead is not characteristic, and the rhyme scheme, borrowed from the "Night Before Christmas" (we suppose with apologies to Santa Claus) lacks ingenuity. This is the first vision in Lampy's nightmare. We turn the page and the inconsistency staggers us. That such a scheme as this can be advanced at all must be deplorable. The tutorial system at Harvard has always been based on the assumption that it was not a subsidiary department, but a parallel one. It has always been assumed that the tutor was to contribute something to the education of the student which he could not obtain from the work which he did in courses. ...equally important aspect of the new scheme is its bearing on the work and status of the tutor. It is obvious that the emphasis laid on the general final examinations enhances the value of the tutorial work. This, coupled with the practice, which is gradually being introduced, of allowing a student to substitute work with his tutor for course requirements, inevitably increases the responsibility and the influence of the tutor, since the importance of the tutorial work will increase in inverse ratio to that of the course. The question then arises whether the tutorial system in its present form...
