David Caruso is not the only "NYPD Blue" influence here, as Barbet Schroeder would probably admit. The cool, super real look of the film is reminiscnent of the television show. Schroeder's touch, like the skewed camera angles, is noticeable. But his main priority is to free the actors and let the story tell itself.
