Yesterday afternoon the Harvard nine was defeated by Lafayette on Soldiers Field by the score of 8 to 1 in a five inning game. Only five innings were played as a cold drizzling rain fell continuously rendering the ball very slippery and difficult to control. McCornick was put in the box in order to save the regular pitchers, and showed his lack of practice by pitching an ineffective game.
