...Haven, Conn., November 17.--The football team held what will doubtless be the last scrimmage before the game Saturday this afternoon against the scrub eleven. The first team was able to score twice, Scovil and McLeish making the touchdowns and Le Gore kicking the goals. A number of graduates assembled in the Bowl to watch the scrimmage, which was held for the purpose of perfecting the defence. Secret signal practice and the regular routine work were held on the old field previous to the scrimmage, five teams running through the rehearsal of signals. The line-up was as follows...

...punting far excelled that of either of his rivals and as a secondary defensive man he was the mainstay of the backfield. He was the pivot on which Yale built her attack, and the other backs were only slightly inferior to his standard of play. Wilson, Ainsworth, Knowles, Scovil, Guernsey and Cornell all contributed strength to the power of the offensive machine which proved to be of such high calibre Line plunging brought the ball down the field in each case and a forward pass resulted in the scores which culminated these long assaults...

Carter has not scrimmaged since his injury last month, but it is hoped to get him into condition for the contest with the University on November 21. Higginbotham is still lame...

...backfield Waite and Scovil showed up very well in yesterday's practice and Wilson, at quarter, put new life into the men. Von Holt was in the first actual scrimmage since breaking one of the bones in his wrist a few weeks ago. Le Gore is not in the best of shape and will probably not start against Princeton, while Wilson and Knowles are hardly strong enough to last through the entire contest...

...series of end runs and a fortunate forward pass. With but five minutes left to play and leading by a meagre one point, the Yale team, re-enforced by the return of Captain Talbott, rushed the ball by hard line plunges down to the opponent's five-yard line. Scovil, on the fourth down pushed the ball across for the final score just previous to the end of the game...
