Yesterday 106 candidates reported for the 1923 crews at the meeting held in the Weld Boat House. This large turnout exceeds by 50 the number of Freshman crew-men who started the rowing season last spring. This large number is extremely gratifying and should contain promising material. ...Class of 1923 will begin this afternoon with a mass meeting of all those interested in the Weld Boat Club at 4 o'clock. Work will start immediately in preparation for the annual fall regatta which will take place in the Charles River Basin at the close of the season. Each one of the Freshman dormitories will be represented by three crews, and opportunity will be given also for pair oarsmen to test their ability...

Many more candidates for positions on the squad are needed at present, according to a statement from the cross-country manager, J. F. Keane, Jr., '21. No cuts will be made in the squad during the whole season, and less than an hour a day on the track will be required in preparing the runners. Coaches will be present at the track all afternoon making it possible for men to report for the workouts in spite of late laboratory sections or afternoon recitations...
