Harvard will play Pennsylvania on Franklin Field, Philadelphia, this afternoon at 2 o'clock. This will be the first of Harvard's two important games of the season, and it promises to be the hardest one that has yet been played. The outcome is generally conceded to be a victory for Harvard, but the score will be closer than seemed probable about two weeks ago. At that time Pennsylvania was slumping as never before, but since then the team has shown remarkable improvement under graduate coaching. With the prestige of a victorious season behind them and with the confidence of more successes to come, thirty-five men reported for the first practice on Monday, September 18. With his long punts, Hallowell should equal Hudson in kicking. Skilful as the latter...
...Freshman eleven is rather backward for this time of the year. This is partially explained by the unusually long season, the last game coming on November 25, so that the men are still at work on elementary football. They have some very good material, however, and a good chance of developing a fast eleven, although heavy men are lacking...
...first eleven's twenty-five yard line. The guards-back plays worked well, and the 'Varsity was unable to prevent Lee and Rainsford from gaining their distance. Ground given for offside play brought the ball near the line, and the second carried it over for the first time this season...
