This afternoon at four o'clock the eleven will line up against Bowdoin for the second game of the season. Bowdoin scored against Harvard last year, and is expected to put up a strong game today. So many members of the football squad have received temporary injuries during the past week that the line-up of the eleven today is very uncertain. While Campbell and Ristine have been laid off, one of them will probably play. Daly has not taken an active part in the practice since the Williams game, and it is not likely that he will play today...
With ex-captain Outland, McCracken, Hare, Gardiner and McMahon, all back again this fall, U. of P. started her football season with excellent prospects. Overfield has been ill, but is expected to join the squad in a short time. The presence on the eleven of McCracken and Hare is sufficient in itself to show that the guards back formation will again be relied upon to a considerable extent. Except for an unexpected weakness in the tackles, the work of the team was very encouraging to the coaches for this time of the year...
...carefully following his interference, made some brilliant long runs around Williams's left end. Daly ran the team well and found no trouble in eluding the Williams's forwards by clever dodging. Fincke, who took his place in the last five minutes, played in much better form that last season, and was particularly effective in the interference. Both Reid and Sawin struck the line hard and the latter did some good punting...
...touchdowns were scored in the first half. Hallowell kicked off to Williams's twenty-five yard line where Harvard took the ball on downs. Some clever rushing by Parker carried the ball up near the line, when Reid, on the third attempt, scored the first touchdown of the season. Daly missed a difficult goal. After the kick-off, Williams found the ball on Kendall's fumble, but after gaining through Swain and Eaton, was held for three downs. Parker's runs around the end and Kendall's through the line carried the ball down the field for Reid to score...
