...late springs. This year, however, the river has opened early, and Captain Perkins has immediately taken advantage of the opportunity. The increased time for rowing on the river will not be without its good effects, if the opportunity is followed up carefully and wisely. This year we seem to be pursuing this desired course; and we are encouraged to believe that our present boating interests are in the hands of those who will bring us victory...

...some time past we have been hearing the usual complaints of the poor financial support which the freshmen are giving their crew; and now a direct appeal from the management comes to us. He needs one thousand dollars more in subscriptions, and the class doesn't seem disposed to give it. The question appears to be a very simple one: Is the crew to go to New London or not? Unless the money is raised by a certain time, the athletic committee has said that the crew shall not go to New London. That decision seems to be clear enough...

...little effort the technical difficulties of the work. Her tone and touch were sympathetic and thoroughly musical, while her dashing style of execution carried the audience with her from beginning to end. The cencerto itself was interesting, but not remarkably so. Yet they do not seem in the beginning to have questioned that the god of the Ammonites ruled in his own territory, and whenever occasion offered they themselves fell to worshiping the deities of the neighboring peoples. It is only by gradual evolution that the Israelites became monotheists, and we are driven in the last resort to account for their final...

...event of the evening was the high jump. G. R. Fearing '93 broke the world's indoor record three times, first 6 feet 1 inch, then 6 feet 2 inches, then 6 feet 2 1-4 inches. His jumping was beautifully easy and he does not by any means seem to have done the best he will ever be able to. A. H. Green '92 also did very well, beating his own record by several inches by jumping 5 feet 11 7-8 inches. Fearing had already won his heat in the 75 yards dash...
