...style in Harvard professors, in professors anywhere, for that matter. He himself is Dickensian, with his piercing glance to identify a caller or passery, his two bachelor rooms in the garret of old Hollis, his quick replies which from a less amiable nature might be crabhed but from him seem way and sprightly, and his remark in the introduction to his anthology: "As for Christmas Eve, it won't seem like itself if Mrs. Lowell stops allowing me to bring my book...." ...Catalina channel and as a result found himself the most talked of person in America. Gertrude Ederle, a few months ago, found herself in a similar position. Red Grange and how many others have found that because of unusual athletic ability they are able to command salaries that would seem fabulous to a college professor and are not equaled by the majority of capable and efficient business men. His method might be profitably used in preserving the rationality of law in Nebraska and Minnesota and elsewhere. But it is unfortunate that satire is needed...

Though the pupils are thus taught to earn their own living by their hands, specialization at such an early age seems highly dangerous. The ideal of a general education is admittedly a secondary consideration. The institution is little more than a training school for the Ford factory.
