Associate deans may be excellent assessors of managerial skill, but Chafin's successor will need more than that to do the job well. He'll have to deal with students at least as well as he handles annual budgets and patrol schedules...

Jesse Jackson is intelligent, impartial and impressive. He commands respect in the U.S. and abroad. America could do a whole lot worse than elect him its Commander in Chief. I hope the Democratic leaders have the good sense to recognize quality and select Jackson as their presidential candidate. I might even go back to the polls myself...

Heimert says that because the fellowship is for one year, the racially mixed South African selection committee, which, along with Heimert, makes the final decision from more than 100 applicants, tries to select students who will benefit most from a one-year masters program. The most popular program for the students is the 13-week advanced management course at the Business School which just under half of them have chosen. Heimert adds that while the SAEP emphasizes the sciences, the Harvard program looks for middle-level businessmen.
