...other hand, the crude fact that young men of wealth, or at least sufficient means to seek purely selfish pleasure, should find satisfaction in coming "to do chores" for the sake of others, is really the best thing that college men have done for Labrador. It does more for Labrador than Labrador may admit or even understand. It is the best thing any man can do for the world anywhere--it is the one modern interpretation of what Christ Himself...
...Negroes, the Socialists, the Indians, the Chinese, the Japanese, or any foreign born? The Klan is looking for you. Have you a secret desire to wear a white hood and be taught to shudder at the reports of Klan spies concerning the machinations of "three groups attempting to gain selfish domination over our country; two of them powerful and strongly organized, the third not so powerful nor so well organized but the most immediately dangerous of the three"? There has been a tendency on the part of other notable Shaksperian actors to subordinate the play to the part, a venture as dangerous as it is selfish. Mr. Sothern, while of neccessity cutting liberally to make the play manageable in an evening, achieves a smooth and rapid plot-development, together with a sustained high standard of acting rarely seen in this drama. An unusually capable and well-balanced cast assists materially in avoiding the too common effect of a series...
