John Semer Farnsworth, 59, Annapolis-trained lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy who was cashiered in 1927 when he borrowed money from an enlisted man, then committed perjury by disclaiming indebtedness; in Manhattan. Farnsworth also caused the U.S. Government lively embarrassment when he was convicted in 1937 (and served an eleven-year prison term) for selling Naval secrets to the Japanese for $20,000 over a three-year period.
