Last spring, my seminar professor began the course by innocently asking us to share a bit about our religious backgrounds and ourselves, as well as to explain why we chose the class. ...lack of religion seemed to be more a blessing than a curse. So much of what I witnessed in my so-called pious peers struck me as, if not unabashedly sinful, surely hypocritical.
