...city of Davao on the southern island of Mindanao were attacked soon after a bomb at a ferry terminal killed 16 people and injured more than 50. The blast followed one at Davao airport last month, which killed 23 people and was blamed by authorities on Muslim separatist guerrillas. According to police, he may have been approached by a young man with a backpack, whom they identify as Montazer Sudang, a 23-year-old with apparent links to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the country's biggest Islamic separatist group. A large pipe bomb, either in Sudang's backpack or carried by an unidentified female accomplice, exploded with an enormous blast.
