Time's Belgrade stringer Dejan Anastasijevic has spent the last 12 years covering the wars and turbulence of the Balkans at close quarters, suffering harassment from the government of former president Slobodan Milosevic for his efforts to report on the actions of Serb security forces in Bosnia and Kosovo. Anastasijevic later testified for the prosecution during Milosevic's ongoing war-crimes trial at the Hague. ...basic details of the massacre all well-known in the wider world, and have recently been reprised in great detail during the ongoing trial of former Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic at the Hague. On July 11, 1995, Serb forces overran the small eastern Bosnian town, which they had kept under siege for more than three years. The same men are then shown forcing six emaciated Bosnian Muslims from the back of a canvas-covered truck. They bind the prisoners' hands, march them into a clearing and machine-gun them, one by one, while the others watch. The clip, filmed by the unit and obtained by a Serb human-rights investigator, aired last week in the Hague at the trial...

...reportorial comic-making, the author of Safe Area Gorazde continues to delve into his experience in postwar Bosnia for its rich characters and complex moral issues. War's End contains two short pieces, in the first of which Sacco and a couple of local reporters track down the notorious Serb separatist and accused war criminal Radovan Karadzic as he attends a Christmas service. The second story, Soba, is a profile of an intense, charismatic native Sarajevan, an artist turned planter of land mines as he waits out the final days of the war. Sacco has trod Baltic ground before...
