...series of articles discussing various plans for the Harvard Memorial is appearing from time to time in issues of the CRIMSON. A different plan is set forth in a communication in the Alumni Bulletin, which proposes that the Harvard Endowment Fund be changed into a Harvard Memorial Fund. But such a plan seems undesirable for it would commercialize the spirit of commemoration which should be the key note of the final memorial. Time alone will determine whether any of the plans under consideration will be selected, but the CRIMSON will be glad to publish any criticism or any new suggestions...

...plausible suggestion for such a change would be to apply a set of examinations in the Junior, or early part of the Senior year to test a student's ability to comprehend the elementary French or German which is related to his field of concentration. For example, if a man should specialize in Physics he would be called upon to pass an examination in scientific French or German. Since his arrival here last February Colonel Goetz, working in the seclusion of the Military Office, has perfected plans for the Field Artillery Unit to be established here next fall. Laboring under the handicap of the bad reputation of the S. A. T. C., he set forth, a short time ago, comprehensive plans for the future R. O. T. C., which, if they materialize, will undoubtedly prove of great value to the University. University track received a set back yesterday when A. Stevens '19, the best hammer thrower on the squad, injured his ankle and, as a result will probably be unable to complete against Yale at New Haven, Saturday. Inasmuch as several of the Yale runners are also out on account of poor physical condition, the meet will be close, with the University team a slight favorite...

...considerable amount of equipment for the University artillery unit has just been received by the Military Office. This includes two five-ton Holt tractors, six horses, a complete set of saddles, and a number of observation and fire-control instruments. Four enlisted men of the regular Army have also arrived to care for the horses...
