Phillips Brooks House was dedicated on January 23, 1900, the seventh anniversary of the death of Phillips Brooks. The idea of establishing a home for student religious societies had been in Phillips Brooks's mind and just before his death he suggested that such a building would be the best means of commemorating his life and perpetuating his influence at Harvard.
