DEATH ON THE NILE Directed by John Guillermin Screenplay by Anthony Shaffer...
They are, manifestly, a diverse, and therefore amiable set of cruise companions, and unless one has read the book, it is impossible to break the case before Poirot does. The trouble with the thing is that though Shaffer (the author of Sleuth) can outline a highly stylized murder-mystery character, he seems to lack the energy to fill in the kind of details that can, in masterly hands, utterly charm and disarm. Shaffer, agree. But after technical presentations and demonstrations of both devices in Montreal, the ICAO experts voted 39 to 24 in favor of the American system. The U.S. scanning beam has won a crucial round in the quest for a prize that eventually may be worth $4 billion in equipment sales around...
