Crediting a new line of Macintoshes and a corporate shakeup, Apple was pleased Wednesday to report a smaller-than-expected loss for the spring quarter: just $56 million. Hardly a profit, but at $1.7 billion, revenue was slightly up from $1.6 billion for the first three months of 1997. After analysts predicted losses topping $100 million, investors should be pleased. Meanwhile, the bruised Apple may look a little tastier to prospective CEOs...
