On the whole, however, the new men have begun to row together in fair shape, especially in the '97 boat, which seems to have a good deal of life and snap. ...coaches are spending most of their time in teaching the men quick, snappy interference, close following of the ball, and speedy play. The backs are being trained to kick by J. Crane '90, and possibly Blanchard '91 will come out and help as the team begins to take shape. It is hoped that by next week the team will be virtually made up as it will play Yale. ...company being formed at Harvard for military drill and discipline by Lieutenant Robinson, is now taking definite shape. At its meeting yesterday some twenty-five men presented themselves. The company adopted the name of the Harvard Rifles, repeating the old name of Mayor Bancroft's time. It also decided upon a uniform, - the undress gray cadet uniform, the same as is worn at the military academy at West Point. On Friday a measurer will come from Boston to take final measurements and orders about the suits...
