DURING THE HOSTAGE CRISIS, Americans described the Middle East as a barbaric area, a place where ignorant subhumans engaged in terror. Stupid Khomeini jokes abounded, later replaced by equally nonsensical remarks about Qaddafi. Little objectivity and understanding have been shed on the region by a people whose country's financial and strategic interests often outweigh local concerns of Middle Easterners. The Carter Doctrine--whose sole purpose is to protect American interests in the Middle East, with force if necessary, despite their implications--stands as a case in point. ...Arabia. From an interview with a Turkish journalist, Leyla Umar, it is evident that Amin is as feisty and fanciful as ever. He commented on President Reagan ("I don't like him any more") and told of how his fellow Ugandans pine for his return. The former dictator shed 20 Ibs. so he could beat his offspring in swimming races. He says he lost the weight in one week by eating smaller portions. The abrasive Frank evidently...

...real suspense of the film derives from the troubles that Leading Lady Pia Zadora keeps having with her wardrobe. Sometimes it seems to have a will of its own and just starts sliding off her. On other occasions, when there is some feebly logical reason for her to shed it (taking a bath, going to bed), you may be sure that Stacy Keach, as the father figure she has for some reason taken it into her head to seduce, will be around to catch a tantalizing glimpse of this or that secondary sexual characteristic. Since Zadora is the principal backer...
