A third, and possibly a fourth, college, to rank with the two existing divisions, lie at the basis of his solution. Seniors in the academic department and in Sheffield Scientific School at New Haven, selecting their "favorite college next to Yale", differ widely as to whether the coveted second place should fall to Princeton or Harvard. "Ac" prefers Cambridge culture by a 12-point margin but the husky engineers of "Shef" are apparently repelled by Harvard's reputed aestheticism, and pass her by entirely in favor of Princeton, Dartmouth and Smith. Consequently, in the combined total Princeton takes a considerable lead...

Elephantiasis has seized upon Yale no less than on other colleges and universities throughout the country. The Yale News, realizing the imminent danger of an unwieldy institution, now advocates abolition of the common freshman year which has for the past decade united the Sheffield Scientific School with the Yale college. The News believe that this merge, temporary through its duration is has produced little except overpopulation and chaos...
