...Saturday the Yale first crew held a very successful time trial over the four mile course on the Thames, covering the course in 20 minutes and 40 seconds, nearly the record for the course. Conditions were excellent, a northwest wind helping the shell considerably. In addition, there was a strong tide which favored the boat. The second Eli crew paced the first eight for the first two-mile stretch, the yearlings replacing them over the last half of the course...

...party at Gales Ferry, while Coach Van Santvoord, a former Oxford oarsman, will direct the Freshmen. Coach Enders, last year bow car on the Yale crew, will conduct the coaching of the combination eight, an innovation which will be formed this year from four substitutes from the first shell and four from the Freshman. This will form a part of the preliminary program to be rowed on June 24, the day preceding the formal regatta. This afternoon the second University crew will leave for Philadelphia to enter in the Senior eights' race. The shell was sent down and will be ready at the time the crew arrives. In the morning there will be heats for the crews entered, and in the afternoon the finals will be held. The Junior eight will row against representatives from several Universities, among them Princeton, Yale, Pennsylvania and Annapolis.
