Of course, I realize that temporary generals such as Summerall, MacArthur and Craig aren't really generals in the fullest sense, but I have always been led to believe that one George Washington was a full general. You may wriggle out of this apparent error on the grounds that when Washington was general the U. S. proper did not exist except in the form of the loose Confederation of States...
