Despite the lackluster performance, there were a few fun moments in the concert, like the catchy intro chants ("Do that shit! Funky shit!") that got the crowd involved. When the group urged the crowd to scream "Let's pack the pipe," Harvard students went along with it, chanting louder and louder. If Dean Lewis was watching, he probably had a nervous breakdown. Just the thought of that was more entertaining than anything the Pharcyde offered...

Kelsey L. Miller, a waiter at the Faculty Club, represented the workers' attitudes fairly well when she said, "I'm demonstrating because our contract comes up in two months and because management treats us like shit." The behavior of management, then, is the immediate cause, but the ultimate cause is that of contract renewal. The workers want leverage in order to gouge the University for money. ...what to do? I don't profess to know an answer. I'm half-heartedly tempted to say something ridiculous along the lines of we need to learn how to respect ourselves, to have integrity, and to respect other people, but I know that's a crock of shit. The Information Revolution, like the Industrial Revolution, can't be stopped; romantics wishing for a time of ribbon-tied letter-boxes are as stupid, and as besides the point, as those wishing for an era before factories...
