...What a difference a decade makes. Bloomberg is now New York City's Mayor, and Tuesday he quit his second major party, bailing on the Republicans just as he bailed on the Democrats in 2000. It's not a huge shock; in an interview for TIME's current cover story on Bloomberg and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, he was equally dismissive of reds and blues. "I don't see any difference between the parties," he said. "They can't stop pork. They can't stand up to the NRA. They can't work together...

...subject is still a hot topic on Chinese websites, where much of criticism was directed at the authorities for failing to intervene to stop the human trafficking and enslavement of the brick kiln workers. Even in usually docile official publication like the English language China Daily, the sense of shock and outrage many Chinese felt on seeing footage and pictures of the dazed, sometimes bleeding workers being led out of the kilns was evident, even if relegated to op-ed pages...

Another is a series of middling monoprints with debts to Paul Klee and Egon Schiele. There are also some larger paintings and embroidered canvases. The best work is four wooden sculptures made from sticks attached to form makeshift towers, totems of ramshackle desire. The worst? That's easy...

What's more, the relatively low salaries and wages in Florida's tourism-driven economy "are hardly commensurate with those of the states we're being compared with today, like California and New York," says Cancela, who heads the Miami-based marketing firm Hispanic USA. That growing gap between incomes and housing...
